Deepening domain understanding to maximize customer experience and business value
Waves of "transformation" — DX, new ways of working — keep sweeping through society. Yet the industries that most need innovation tend to be the ones falling behind the curve.
Against that backdrop, Gemba Hub Inc. develops its namesake product, "Gemba Hub." It supports the operations and management of construction and maintenance companies, delivering essential value to a legacy industry.
My first step — with help from the team — was to deepen my understanding of the construction and maintenance domain. Today I produce everything from UI/UX to promotional materials, keeping the user's perspective and the business impact beyond it in mind.
Making a rich feature set intuitive for anyone
"Gemba Hub" is an operations management system for construction and maintenance companies. Since many users aren't used to operating PCs or smartphones, simple and intuitive operation carries enormous value.
Through flat internal discussion plus actively listening to real users, it's become a product that is "genuinely needed."
Supporting a fast-growing product with consistent experience design
What matters in designing Gemba Hub isn't just creating many UIs — it's giving them a unified feel.
Because even with a rich feature set, a disjointed whole keeps users away and, from a development standpoint, breeds technical debt.
So I decided to build an internal design system early. Concretely, I defined colors, icons, UI elements, logos, and more — making design faster and more precise. It also made it easier to share the latest design with engineers, contributing significantly to overall development speed.
